Simple Joy

Sunshine recently asked me to make her a sock puppet, after seeing one on an episode of Blue's Clues.  She picked out a sock and buttons for eyes, that I sewed on, and she was very happy with her bright idea.  It was a quick and simple project for me, that brought her lots of joy.  It even impressed Love-bug, which is a tough feat that Sunshine often strives for.

Today, she decided that her sock puppet is a girl and she wants to give her a ponytail.  She asked that I add string for hair.  I thought yarn would work a lot better and she loved the idea.  So, not only did I add purple yarn hair, but she helped me give her sock puppet (Keke) two pigtails.  In the pic, she said her other hand was Keke's friend, "he's a boy".

I remember making one of these when I was a kid.  I'm glad I could share this memory with her.  Her big sis is going to love to see the changes we've made when she comes home from school.  So much so, that I'm thinking a second sock puppet is in my future.  Even though I had other things to do, I'm glad I took the time to do this.  There's nothing like making happy memories with my girls.  It's also great to have a reminder that it doesn't take much to bring a smile to their faces, and to mine.
